Take your taste buds on a trip to Hawaii with this Loco Moco recipe! It’s a hearty, comforting dish featuring juicy burger patties, caramelized onions, rich gravy, and sunny-side-up eggs, all piled high on a bed of fluffy white rice. Whether you’re craving a filling breakfast or a satisfying dinner, it’s sure to hit the spot.
Ingredients:
- 2 burger patties
- 1/4 tsp. olive oil
- Real Salt Garlic Salt
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
- Real Salt
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 3 tsp. cornstarch slurry (2 tsp. cornstarch + 1/4 cup water)
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. olive oil
- Cooked white rice (or cauliflower rice)
- Green onions and nori seaweed, for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add 1/4 tsp. olive oil.
- Season the burger patties with Real Salt Garlic Salt and cook on medium-high for 3-4 minutes each side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, cook the sliced yellow onions with a sprinkle of Real Salt over medium-low heat until caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.
- Turn the heat to medium-high. Add the beef broth, soy sauce, and cornstarch slurry, stirring until thickened. Remove from heat.
- In a clean pan, heat 1 tsp. olive oil over medium heat and fry two eggs sunny-side-up.
- Assemble the Loco Moco by placing a serving of rice on a plate, topped with a burger patty, caramelized onion, sauce, and a fried egg.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and nori seaweed.
Note: To make this keto-friendly, replace the cornstarch with xantham gum and the white rice with cauliflower rice or omit it altogether.
