How to Brine Meat With the Real Salt Brine Kit

Ready to make the best turkey ever? Or maybe a roasted chicken or pork chops are more your jam. Whatever meat you’re cooking up, the Real Salt Brine Kit is just what you need to make it tender and flavorful without going through all the effort of traditional brining

If you’ve ever brined a turkey (or any other meat), you know it’s an involved process that requires a lot of ingredients. The Real Salt Brine Kit is a great option if you want to get that tender texture and savory flavor that only brining can deliver without the hassle of extensive food prep and shopping.

This all-inclusive kit contains a blend of ancient sea salt, coconut sugar, dried orange and lemon peel, and aromatic herbs that deliver a sweet and salty flavor with a hint of citrus that seriously elevates your favorite meat dishes. Here’s how to make moist, delicious meat with the Real Salt Brine Kit:

Directions (Using a full kit for 12-18 lbs. of meat):

  1. Bring 3 quarts of water to a boil in a 4-5 gallon pot.

  3. Let it simmer until the ingredients completely dissolve, then remove from heat.
  4. Fully cool the brine before adding the meat. To start the cooling process, add 3 quarts of cold water to the mixture.
  5. Once completely cooled, add the meat, making sure it’s fully submerged in the brine.

If you’re brining a smaller piece of meat (something between 6-8 lbs.), you can just use half of the Brine Kit and half of the amount of water. If you want to give your meat a sweeter, fruitier flavor, you could substitute cold apple cider instead of water. These are just a couple of the ways to tailor the Brine Kit to your needs and preferences, but there are many others. Get creative and enjoy!

Can I use it to dry brine a Capon? Just rubbing it inside and under the skin to let it sit in the refrigerator.

Thanks for your question, Alexis. Yes, you can use the Real Salt Brine Kit for dry brining a capon by rubbing it inside and under the skin and letting it sit in the refrigerator. For dry brining, use ¾ tablespoon of the brine mix per pound of meat. Hope this helps!

Can I use REAL SALT FINE TO PRESERVE FRESH PORK BELLY OR PORK BUTT BEFORE I SMOKE THEM???JOHN

Redmond Life:
Thanks for your question, John. While we haven’t tested our Real Salt for this specific use, generally, in food canning and preservation, Real Salt can be used in the exact same quantities and grain sizes as other salts. If you give it a try, let us know how it turns out!
