If you’ve ever stood in the supplement aisle squinting at ingredient labels, wondering why protein powder has to be so complicated, you’re not alone. We were searching for a clean protein powder that tasted good, mixed well, and didn’t leave our stomachs feeling off afterward… and we kept coming up short.
So we did what we tend to do at Redmond: we made our own.
Roots Protein Powder was created to be a simple, everyday protein—one you can trust, enjoy, and actually stick with. No chalky texture. No overpowering sweetness. No ingredient list that reads like a chemistry exam. Just real, thoughtfully chosen ingredients that support daily wellness without unnecessary extras.
Does Protein Matter for Everyday Wellness?
Protein isn’t just for athletes or gym regulars. It plays a key role in supporting muscle health, steady energy, recovery, and overall resilience—especially for busy parents, active adults, and anyone juggling a busy life (in other words, pretty much everyone).
A high-quality protein powder can make it easier to meet your protein needs when your meals are rushed, your appetite is low, or mornings get away from you. Roots Protein turns that daily habit into something simple—and actually enjoyable.
What Ingredients are in Roots Protein?
Roots Protein Powder is made with a short, intentional ingredient list. Every component is there for a reason: quality, digestibility, and taste.
Grass-Fed Whey Protein
Each serving provides 23 grams of grass-fed whey protein sourced from trusted dairies in Australia and Ireland that meet high standards for animal welfare and sustainability. A blend of whey isolate and concentrate delivers a complete amino acid profile to support muscle health and recovery.
We chose a blend of whey isolate and whey concentrate because together, they offer the best balance of digestibility, taste, and everyday usability. Whey isolate goes through additional filtration to remove more fat and lactose, providing a clean, high-protein base that’s easier on digestion and keeps protein content high. Whey concentrate is less filtered, bringing natural creaminess and more bioactive components that support overall nutrition.
The blend allows us to achieve 23 grams of protein per serving without relying on gums, thickeners, or artificial additives. It also creates a smoother, more enjoyable texture—so the protein is something you actually want to drink daily.
Naturally Sweetened
We sweetened Roots Protein with organic maple sugar and monk fruit for a mild, balanced sweetness. By skipping artificial sweeteners and stevia, we reduce aftertaste and help minimize digestive discomfort—so it tastes good and feels good.
Redmond Real Salt®
A small pinch of Redmond Real Salt®, our unrefined mineral salt from an ancient Utah seabed, enhances flavor and adds natural trace minerals. It’s a subtle touch—but one that brings protein into the Redmond lineup in a way that feels familiar and rooted in what we do best.
Do You Need to Mix It in a Blender?
Some clean protein powders sacrifice texture in the name of purity. Roots Protein doesn’t.
It mixes smoothly with water or milk using just a shaker bottle—no blender, no clumps, no frustration. Whether you’re at home, at work, or heading out the door, it’s designed to be easy to make and easy to enjoy.
Will it Cause Stomach Discomfort?
Digestive discomfort is one of the most common complaints with protein powders. To support gut health, Roots Protein includes BC30® (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086), a research-backed probiotic shown to support digestion, immune health, and protein utilization.
For many people who’ve experienced bloating or heaviness with other protein powders, this makes a noticeable difference.
What Flavors Are Available?

Roots Protein Powder comes in two classic flavors you’ll actually look forward to using—made with real, recognizable ingredients and no natural flavors.
Vanilla Protein Powder. Made with sun-cured Madagascar vanilla and organic maple sugar, Vanilla Roots Protein is smooth, lightly sweet, and versatile—perfect for smoothies, baking, or a simple shake.
Chocolate Protein Powder. Crafted with sustainably sourced Dominican cocoa, Chocolate Roots Protein delivers a rich, dark chocolate flavor that feels indulgent without being overly sweet.
Both are designed to fit seamlessly into your daily routine—no special recipes required, but plenty of creative ways you can use them to add more protein (and deliciousness) to your day.
How Do You Use Roots Protein Powder?
Beyond mixing it with water or milk, here are a few simple ways to make Roots Protein part of your routine:
-
Blend into smoothies with fruit, yogurt, or nut butter for a more filling breakfast or post-movement snack.
-
Stir into oatmeal or overnight oats for a protein boost that keeps you satisfied longer.
-
Mix into pancake or waffle batter to add protein to weekend breakfasts.
-
Add to yogurt or cottage cheese for a quick, balanced snack—especially good with berries or a drizzle of honey.
-
Use in simple baking, like muffins, cookies, or protein balls, for an easy way to add protein to everyday treats.
Because Roots Protein has a smooth texture and balanced flavor, it works just as well in food as it does in a shaker—making it easy to enjoy protein in a way that feels natural, flexible, and sustainable.

How many calories are in the protein powder drink mix. When you say maple sugar does it have a maple taste?
———
Redmond Life replied:
Thanks for your question. Each serving has 130 calories. It’s sweetened with maple sugar, but it doesn’t have a maple flavor. The maple sugar is simply used as a natural sweetener. We hope you enjoy it!
Would the vanilla be appropriate for our dogs?
———
Redmond Life replied:
Thanks for the question. The vanilla protein powder is formulated for human use, not specifically for dogs. While small amounts of plain protein may not be harmful for many dogs, we always recommend checking with your veterinarian before giving your dog any supplement.

Redmond Life replied:
Hi there! We’re so glad you’re excited about it. It means a lot to hear that you’re looking forward to adding a 100% dairy-based protein shake into your routine. Thanks for sharing the love, and we hope you have a great day too.
Is the new protein product mainly for very active people rather than older semi active adults?
———
Redmond Life replied:
Yes, protein is very important in older age. As we get older, we naturally lose muscle mass and strength. Getting enough high-quality protein helps support muscle maintenance, balance, mobility, bone health, and a healthy metabolism. It also supports recovery and everyday strength. Protein powder can be a simple way to make sure you’re getting the protein your body needs each day.
