Leaf Toothpaste

Article at a Glance:

  • Leaf Micro Hydroxyapatite Toothpaste offers a smooth brushing experience made with simple, natural ingredients instead of harsh additives.

  • It is powered by micro hydroxyapatite, a calcium-based mineral that supports enamel health and is widely recognized in Japan and Europe for its role in oral care.

  • The formula is clean and gentle, free from fluoride, SLS, and artificial ingredients, and includes Redmond Clay for light polishing.

  • Leaf is naturally sweetened with xylitol, sorbitol, and erythritol to create a mild, balanced flavor without artificial sweeteners.

  • Made by Redmond, it was created for mindful families who want a toothpaste that is clean, effective, and easy to love because a healthy smile should come naturally.

We created Leaf Micro Hydroxyapatite Toothpaste for families who want a clean toothpaste that feels familiar but skips the harsh additives and extras. More and more people are looking for ways to avoid fluoride but still want a toothpaste that keeps teeth feeling truly clean.

That’s where hydroxyapatite comes in. It’s been used for decades in Japan and Europe, where it’s valued for supporting oral care. Now, it’s gaining attention here in the U.S. as a science-backed, fluoride-free option for daily brushing.

Let’s take a closer look at this ingredient and the other natural components that make Leaf Toothpaste a fresh choice for your routine.

What is Hydroxyapatite?

Hydroxyapatite is a calcium-based mineral that naturally occurs in your teeth and bones. It makes up most of the structure of tooth enamel, the hard outer layer that helps protect teeth. Because of this, hydroxyapatite has become an important ingredient in oral care around the world.

Scientific research has shown that hydroxyapatite toothpaste can help remineralize the tooth surface, reduce the appearance of plaque, and support enamel health. It’s also known for being non-toxic and biocompatible, meaning it works naturally with the body.

At Redmond, we chose hydroxyapatite because it aligns with our clean, natural approach to oral care.

Why Micro and Not Nano Hydroxyapatite?

Both micro and nano hydroxyapatite have been studied for their potential role in supporting tooth health. We chose micro hydroxyapatite (also known as micro-HAP or mHAp) because its larger particle size allows it to interact with the surface of teeth without entering below the enamel or dentin.

Cleaner, Smoother, Stronger–Naturally

In the 1940s, popular toothpaste brands started to include foaming agents like sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). The bubbles didn’t actually make toothpaste clean better; they just made it feel like it did. The problem with SLS is that it can be harsh and irritating for some people.

Leaf Toothpaste skips unnecessary additives like SLS and instead uses gentle, naturally sourced ingredients that truly support a healthy mouth, including:

  • Hydroxyapatite to help keep enamel strong

  • Redmond Clay for gentle cleansing

  • Hydrated silica and calcium carbonate to polish teeth

  • Xylitol, sorbitol, and erythritol for mild sweetness

  • Essential oils for natural flavor and freshness

Why Does Leaf Use Xylitol, Sorbitol, and Erythritol?

Along with minerals, we carefully chose plant-based sweeteners to make Leaf taste great without adding anything artificial. These are naturally derived sweeteners known as sugar alcohols, but they are not the kind of alcohol found in drinks. They occur naturally in fruits and plants and are commonly used in clean oral care products.

We chose them because they add gentle sweetness, help keep the toothpaste smooth, and support a balanced environment in the mouth without artificial ingredients or added sugar. They are safe for everyday use and give Leaf its pleasant, family-friendly flavor.

Flavors You’ll Look Forward To

Leaf Toothpaste comes in three refreshing flavors inspired by nature:

  • Wild Mint: Cool and invigorating, like a breath of crisp morning air.

  • Orange Vanilla: Smooth and comforting, with a touch of creamy sweetness.

  • Citrus Rosemary: Bright and herbal, like brushing in a sunny garden.

How is Leaf Different From Earthpaste?

Both Leaf Micro Hydroxyapatite Toothpaste and Earthpaste are natural, fluoride-free options, but they’re designed with slightly different goals in mind.

  • Clay: Earthpaste’s foundation is Redmond Clay, while Leaf uses only a small amount for gentle cleansing.

  • Nano Silver: Earthpaste includes nano silver; Leaf does not.

  • Micro Hydroxyapatite: Leaf contains micro hydroxyapatite to support strong enamel and a naturally polished smile, while Earthpaste does not.

  • Sweeteners: Earthpaste is sweetened with xylitol, while Leaf blends xylitol, sorbitol, and erythritol.

  • Texture: Leaf has a smooth, creamy texture similar to conventional toothpaste, while Earthpaste maintains a distinctive clay-based feel.

  • Fluoride-Free: Both are completely fluoride-free.

  • Flavoring: Both use essential oils for natural flavor.

In short, Leaf offers a smoother, more traditional brushing experience with added micro hydroxyapatite, while Earthpaste stays true to its simple, clay-based formula with nano silver.
