Real Salt® Kosher Refill Pouch (16 oz.)

Real Salt is unrefined, ancient sea salt exactly as nature made it. We call it “Nature’s First Sea Salt®.” It contains 60+ naturally-occurring trace minerals, and it’s never processed or chemically treated. Our kosher sea salt, which is a bit larger than fine salt, is the best salt for seasoning meat because it draws out proteins that help it caramelize. It’s also great for veggies, edamame, and margaritas. If you want to reuse your shakers, reduce waste, and keep your meals full of flavor, our 16 oz. refill pouch is an awesome choice.

  • Medium size grains (chew carefully!)
  • Helps cook meat to perfection
  • Perfect for pinching and tossing (which is why chefs love it)
  • Great for canning, pickling, and fermenting.

A necessity for good steak.

Why do you need kosher salt? It’s not for religious dietary restrictions, it’s about the size of the salt flakes. One of the best things you can do to a steak, other than eating it, is to dry brine it first with salt (google it). But size matters. You don’t want too fine a salt, which is where kosher salt comes in: it’s a bigger flake than table salt (but not as big as coarse). It’s the perfect size to make your steak wonderful (also good for potatoes, but they are carb death). And if you are using salt on a good steak, Redmonds is the way to go since it is loaded with minerals and none of the micro plastics or other brands.

Thanks for sharing, Robert!

Real Salt Kosher Refill Pouch

I like the ease of the pouch. Sure, resealable is good, but after awhile it doesn't reseal how it did in the beginning. Whereas, the pouch will always retain its freshness and goodness because of how the packaging was created. The salt speaks for itself, but packaging makes a difference, in my opinion!!! Thank you for being able to deliver to Hawaii!!!

Thank you for leaving a review, Dorothy! We're huge fans of the pouch, too. Our mission is to provide simple, clean, real products to help you live your life intentionally—and that includes the packaging! Thanks for being a fan!

We think salt should be simple. It shouldn’t contain artificial additives or unhealthy pollutants. And it shouldn’t be stripped of beneficial trace minerals. It should be sea salt the way nature made it— nothing added, nothing taken away.

Millions of years before humans began polluting our planet, an ancient ocean covered what is now the Western United States. As the earth shifted and ocean waters retreated beneath the surface, the Real Salt deposit was formed into a massive, underground mountain of crystalized salt protected from erosion by a layer of volcanic ash.

Have you ever wished for a secret ingredient that would make every dish you prepare taste its very best? Compared to typical sea salt, Real Salt has a much smoother flavor profile – a subtle, salty sweetness that naturally enhances the flavor of every bite. Real Salt doesn’t make your food taste like salt, it enhances the flavors you already have.

"For decades we were told by our doctors we should fear salt – and maybe, if your doctor still insists on using processed “sea salt” that is nothing but sodium chloride, we should still be afraid." - Dr. Ken Berry

In prehistoric times, there was an inland sea covering what is now Redmond, Utah, known as the Sundance Sea. That sea is gone, but it left behind a large, pristine, underground salt deposit—which is where we mine Real Salt.

In prehistoric times, there was an inland sea covering what is now Redmond, Utah, known as Sundance Sea. That sea is gone, but it left behind a large, pristine, underground salt deposit—which is where we mine Real Salt. That's why even though our salt lives deep in the earth, it’s actually sea salt.

Real Salt doesn't expire, because natural salt without additives doesn't ever go bad. Food only spoils when fungal, bacterial, yeast, or other microbial growth takes place. All of these require water. Salt doesn’t contain water, so it doesn’t support microbial growth, meaning it won’t spoil. In fact, salt is actually used as a preservative for other foods, like meat.
