Experts like Dr. James DiNicolantonio suggest that most healthy men and women need 3,000-5,000 mg on rest days and 5,000-7,000 mg on workout days for optimal health, with certain exceptions like people who have health conditions that make them more sensitive to salt (always consult with a trusted healthcare provider).
